The route

(1).Park in the lay by opposite the Magpie and Parrot, leaving room for the buses to stop. Facing the Magpie and Parrot, turn right and walk to the bridge over the River Loddon. About 70 yards past the bridge (2) turn right into a fenced public footpath. At the style ahead on the left, (3) turn left and cross the field to the far corner. Climb another stile and bear right through middle of field to pass power line pole. At the end of this field cross the road and continue ahead on broad grass track with hedge on left. At the end of the field on the right, turn left over stile and follow edge of field with ditch and fence on right. At the corner of field cross stile and turn left along a permitted path through Pound Copse with road nearby on right. At the end of the copse, rejoin the footpath coming from the field on left. Pass through the stile-way and turn left along road, Greensward Lane. At road junction ahead, turn right along main road (A327) for about 100 yards then cross over into Church Lane (4) and where this road bends right, turn left into a "No through road." After right hand bend bear left next to swing gate. Continue ahead along tree lined drive and immediately after crossing junction with road, walk ahead passing remains of old Arborfield Church. Continue ahead and shortly enter track passing to left of Hall Farm's Youngstock Unit. Continue on track to shortly re-cross the River Loddon and go straight on along fenced track. At the end of the field on the right the track bears right, becoming hedged. After some 350 yards, when level with the end of buildings at Oldhouse Farm away to right, go ahead through gate. Keep straight on to style and footbridge and bear left at path (6) Turn left at drive and just beyond end of hedge turn right into track. You should see the Magpie and Parrot below you, follow the tracks and stiles to reach a stile and path to the left of the pub grounds.
